MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT by Julie Cho
March is here and Spring is just around the corner. Has it already been a month since yKAN hosted one of its most successful Valentines Day Fundraisers? This fantastic event was made possible by the tremendous efforts of the eboard, loyal yKAN supporters and our lovely sponsors: Woo Lae Oak, B-3 Bar & Lounge, HanGawi, Gama Restaurant & Bar, Altra Magazine, Redken, and the yKAN Board of Directors for providing date certificates and thank you gifts.
Did you meet / purchase someone special at the Valentines Day Auction? Bring them to the next yKAN General Meeting on March 22nd for a profitable exchange with David Frisch, President of Frisch Financial Group. You'll learn about how to maximize your dollar through investments, savings, debt management and tax planning.
With your financial future looking bright and a date in your arms you can share a bit of this fortune by volunteering with yKAN at the Father's Heart Ministries Soup Kitchen for St. Patrick's Day. Bring that special someone or bring your family and friends to feed the hungry and give to the needy.
Your participation is what makes all of our events great. I invite you to come out with us, participate and help grow our young Korean American Network. Thank you.
Thank you,
Julie Cho

The annual yKAN Valentine's Fundraiser, held on Friday February 9, 2007 at Maru, was a huge success! Over 140
people attended the event to raise more than $3300 for commmunity programming for the year. Thank you to everyone who
came out to participate in the Lock & Key game and in the bachelor/ette auction. Guy with keys and gals with locks mingled

glimpse of the candidates. The emcees rallied the crowd as the bidding escalated to a record high of $300 for lovely Janet Lee.

Korean artist SooJin Jeong Exhibits at Agora Gallery (NY) from February 20 to March 13
Soojin Jeong’s work is modern in its execution, but timeless in its themes. Exploring the nature of human beings and their relationship to reality is what Jeong’s work expresses to her viewers most strongly. Jeong’s work carries a message that is both universal and deeply personal; her compositions are simple, yet mysterious. The recurring figures in her work are goats; she places them in different places throughout her canvases. These goats can be interpreted as simple, whimsical flourishes or as lonely representations of the human condition. Either way, Jeong creates a reality for her viewers, which operates on multiple levels. Her work gives a sense of spontaneity and freedom, but also of careful detail and orchestrated construction. She brilliantly gives the effect of effortlessness, while her works are in fact sophisticated renderings of a deeply reflective artist. Soojin Jeong lives and works in New York.
From February 20 to March 13 at Agora Gallery, 530 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York. Opening hours: 11am-6pm. Reception February 22nd, 6-8 PM.
